Electives

Class Outline, Requirements, & Tuition

Elective Classes are designed to enhance the student’s ballet technique by increase flexibility of movement by including other genres of dance movement into the classical ballet training. In addition, these classes help the versatility of our dancers. That is, these classes give breadth to the ballet training of our students. Tuition for elective classes, if not included in base tuition rate, is an additional $25 per month per class. Class cards and drop-in rates apply as well.

To be eligible for elective classes, all dancers must be registered in ballet classes with good attendance. Electives availability vary by level, please see below for available electives for your Classical Ballet Level.

  • Lyrical/Jazz Level 1: 1 hour class. 1x per week. Dancers in the Pre Ballet 3 or higher are eligible to take Lyrical Jazz 1. No experience necessary. Must be registered in ballet classes to be eligible for electives. This class is high energy and fun. A combination of ballet, contemporary Broadway style dance technique with today’s hit moves and songs that are always age appropriate. Available for our first year Lyrical/Jazz dancers. Dancers must be in at least Pre Ballet 4.
  • Lyrical/Jazz Level 2: 1 hour lyrical/jazz class. 1x per week. Dancers in the Second Position and higher may be eligible to take Lyrical/Jazz 2 (by placement). This class is high energy and fun. A combination of ballet, contemporary Broadway style dance technique with today’s hit moves and songs that are always age appropriate that build on concepts learned in Lyrical/Jazz 1. Dancers must be in at least Second Position to attend this class and the class is available by placement only.
  • Lyrical/Jazz Level 3: 1 hour lyrical/jazz class. 1x per week. Dancers in the Fourth Position and higher may be eligible to take Lyrical/Jazz 3 (by placement). This class is high energy and fun. A combination of ballet, contemporary Broadway style dance technique with today’s hit moves and songs that are always age appropriate that build on concepts learned in Lyrical/Jazz 2. Dancers must be in at least fourth position to attend this class and the class is available by placement only.
  • Contemporary: 1 hour Modern class. 1x per week. Dancers in the Fourth Position or higher may be eligible to take Contemporary (by placement). This class combines the different modern dance techniques from Pioneers like Graham and Horton to today’s contemporary choreographers. Dancers must be in at least fourth position to attend this class and the class is available by placement only.
