Classical Levels

CLASS OUTLINES & REQUIREMENTS

First Position 
1.5-hour ballet class, 1x per week plus enhancement class. Must be 8 yrs. old by September 1st or by placement. First position is designed to be a program that intensifies the rigorous training of the classical ballet dancer. Building on foundations learned as a Pre-Ballet dancer and introducing concepts to beginners with a focus on more ballet technique, and more ballet central exercises. First position dancers are highly recommended to take an elective class at least once per week (additional fees apply). 

Second Position 
By placement. 1.5-hour ballet class. 2x per week plus enhancement class. Second position is designed to be a two-year program. Adding on to concepts from First Position with a focus on more ballet technique, and more ballet central exercises.

Third Position 
By placement. 2-hour ballet class, which includes pre-pointe and/or beginning pointe training. 3x per week plus enhancement class. Third position is designed to be a three year program. Adding on to concepts from Second Position with a focus on more ballet technique and more ballet central exercises. Introduction of pre-pointe into the curriculum to begin to prepare to dance en pointe. In subsequent years, will also include beginning pointe work. Third position dancers are highly recommended to take an elective class at least one per week (additional fees apply). 

Fourth Position
By placement. 2-hour ballet class, which includes intermediate pointe training. 3x per week plus enhancement class. Classes followed by pointe-based classes (e.g., variations, pas de deux) will be 1.5-hours long. Fourth Position dancers are highly recommended to take an elective class at least once per week (additional fees apply) and may be encouraged to take variations class or pas de deux classes (by invitation). May also take teaching internship classes.

Fifth Position
By placement. 2-hour ballet class, including advanced pointe training 4x per week plus enhancement class. Classes followed by pointe-based classes (e.g., variations, pas de deux) will be 1.5-hours long. Fifth Position is an advanced class that prepares dancers for the professional world. Adding on to concepts from Fourth Position with a focus on more ballet technique, and more ballet central exercise. Fifth position dancers will be asked to take most ballet classes fully en pointe. Fifth Position dancers are highly recommended to take an elective class (additional fees apply) and may be encouraged to take variations class or pas de deux classes (by invitation). May also take teaching internship classes. 

TUITION
NWB Classical Ballet Level tuition structure differs from our PreBallet Level tuition and Open Recreational Ballet Tracks. To emphasize our school-based approach to ballet at this level, tuition can be paid either annually or by semester. Tuition will be automatically charged via credit card on the 10th of the start of the school year or each semester (whichever you prefer) unless tuition payment is made via check or cash in the office prior to the payment deadlines. A 3.5% credit or debit card processing fee will be added to all credit or debit card transactions. Tuition can be paid either annually or by semester. 

• Annual Payments are due by September 10th. If utilizing this option, the annual registration fee is waived. 

• Semester Payment are due at the beginning of each semester (see below for exact due dates). 

  • First Semester – due by September 10th 

  • Second Semester – due by January 10th 

  • Third Semester – due by May 10th 

• Monthly Payment Plans may be available for both tuition and performance fees. All payment plans include a $5.00 monthly service fee. Please email your payment plan request to the office at newwestballet@gmail.com. Upon availability, we will try our best to accommodate these requests. 

  • First Position - $1,800 per year ($600 per semester) 

  • Second Position - $3,000 per year ($1,000 per semester)

  • Third Position - $3,900 per year ($1,300 per semester) 

  • Fourth Position - $4,200 per year ($1,400 per semester) 

  • Fifth Position - $4,500 per year ($1,500 per semester)
