What we do.

New West Ballet Foundation provides arts enrichment and education for the North San Diego County community through engaging performances and community outreach that preserve and advance the genuine classical ballet experience.

Outreach

Throughout the year, we take our dancers on the road and perform excerpts from our ballets at local festivals and community fairs. In doing so, we bring ballet to our local community, sharing this beautiful art with individuals who may otherwise not be able to experience it. Additionally, the Foundation works to offer scholarships to several of the studio's students. In the 2022 - 2023 school year, scholarships totaled just over $21,000.

Nutcracker

The Foundation is very pleased to produce an annual production of The Nutcracker, which features over 80 performers ranging from age 4 to 70! The ballet is performed at the beautiful Poway Center for the Performing Arts over the Thanksgiving weekend, with 3-full length performances, and one hour-long abridged version. Our abridged version is also a sensory-friendly performance, geared towards young families and anyone with sensory sensitivities.

Scholarships

The Foundation is proud to partner with NWB in offering scholarships to students and families in need. For the 2023 - 24 school year, scholarships total approximately $25,000. With the help of grants, in addition to the support of individual donors, the Foundation is able to provide scholarships to students of all ages so that more dancers might train and grow in their craft at New West Ballet.
